FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Caring for someone you love can be both unbelievably rewarding and exhausting. You don’t have to do it alone.
Below you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions about caregiver coaching and how it can help bring more peace, clarity, and balance into your life.
1. What is caregiver coaching?
Caregiver coaching is a supportive partnership that helps you care for yourself while caring for your loved one. Through guided conversations, reflection, and evidence-based wellness strategies, I help you navigate the emotional, physical, and practical challenges of caregiving — so you can show up with more energy, calm, and confidence.
2. How is coaching different from therapy?
Coaching focuses on the present and future — helping you create goals, build resilience, and make sustainable changes. Therapy, on the other hand, often explores past experiences or treats mental health conditions.
Many caregivers benefit from both. Coaching is not a substitute for therapy, but it complements it beautifully by offering tools and accountability for daily wellbeing.
3. Who do you work with?
I work with caregivers of children living with chronic or complex medical needs — including parents of children with special medical needs. Many of my clients are navigating the medical system, advocating for their loved one, and trying to keep their own wellbeing from falling to the bottom of the list.
4. What can I expect in a coaching session?
Each session is a safe, judgment-free space to pause and breathe. We’ll explore what’s most pressing for you that week — whether it’s managing overwhelm, communicating with medical professionals, setting healthy boundaries, or finding time for your own rest and nourishment.
Together, we’ll create simple, realistic strategies that fit your life. You’ll leave each session feeling lighter, clearer, and more capable.
5. How often do we meet?
Most clients begin with weekly or biweekly sessions. Consistency helps build momentum and lasting change. As you grow more confident in applying the tools we discuss, we may move to monthly check-ins or a maintenance plan.
6. How long does coaching last?
The coaching journey looks different for everyone. Some clients find powerful transformation in a single 2 hour session; most feel best starting with 6 sessions; many choose to continue for ongoing support. You’ll decide what feels right for your needs and schedule.
7. Do you meet online or in person?
All sessions are held virtually, so you can join from the comfort of your home, even on a busy caregiving day. You’ll just need a quiet space, a good internet connection, and a few moments set aside for you.
8. Is everything I share confidential?
Absolutely. We meet on a private HIPAA compliant video call. What you share in our sessions stays between us. As a certified health and wellness coach, I follow strict confidentiality and ethical guidelines to protect your privacy and trust.
9. What if I’m not sure coaching is right for me?
That’s perfectly okay. I offer a free consultation call so you can ask questions, share your story, and see if coaching feels like the right fit. There’s no pressure — just an open, compassionate conversation about where you are and what you need.
10. How do I get started?
Click “Book a Free Consultation” on my website to schedule a 15 minute discovery call. Together we’ll talk through your caregiving experience, your goals, and how coaching can support you in creating more calm and balance in your life.
11. What if I don’t have much time? I feel guilty investing in myself when my loved one needs so much.
You are not alone in feeling that way. But caring for yourself is not selfish — it’s essential. When you’re rested, centered, and supported, your loved one receives the very best of you. Coaching helps you refill your cup so you can keep giving without running dry.
12. I’m on a budget, how much will caregiver coaching cost?
We have several different package options to fit your budget and needs. Some people get a lot of benefit out of a single two hour coaching session, while others prefer to meet weekly or biweekly through a 6 session or 12 session package. The 12 session package includes a 13th free bonus session. Please set up a free 15 minute discovery call to learn more about session options and pricing.
13. Will video sessions be recorded?
No, video sessions are not recorded and will be conducted on a private, HIPAA compliant site.
14. How long do sessions last?
Unless, you are doing a 120 minute, Deep Dive 1:1 coaching session, each session purchased within a package will last 50 minutes.
15. How will my information be stored?
All information, including the initial intake form will managed as PHI/PMI (Protected Health Information aka Protected Medical Information) and contained within a HIPAA compliant site, to ensure your privacy.
"I was feeling like no one in my life could relate to the experiences I was having as a parent of a child with medical issues. KD is a mom of a child with a medical condition. She’s been in my shoes. Meeting with her, I felt seen for the first time since becoming a mom to my special kiddo."
